On the job market

I think I'm finally at that point that I need to go for it. I have always wanted to be some sort of marketing or evangelist for a tech company. Since this is what I want to do, I suppose I better start by talking about what is the reason and why I want to switch.

When I decided to go back to school, I knew that time was not on my side. As a continued to work through things, I got into a state of mental and physical anguish, to the point that I was hospitalized twice. Since then, my health has improved, but work conditions have not. At this point, working for a telecom retail store is not what I want to do anymore. The job is comfortable, pay is good for the area, discounted phone bills always rock. The problem is it is still retail, and with companies as a whole not letting their frontline people move upward, I decided that now is the time for me to try to catch my dream job.

There are several technologies that I like: Xbox, cloud computing, VR, photography, and general development. But many of the people that are experts in this usually are not the type of people that like to talk to people about it. Whether it is due to personality or communication skills, I tend to be the bridge that brings a lot of people to technology easily. I have been an expert in communications my whole life, and I get technical processes.

I think the best job for me is a marketing position with one of the big tech companies. I have applied to a few positions at Microsoft, Amazon, and Dell, but I'm looking for more. I just want to communicate about something that I feel is very powerful, but I don't want to have the same face-to-face experience I have for years. If anyone that works for a company that can use a voice to get the technological people and the users together, I want the opportunity.
